The Australian team bus while returning from the Barsapara Stadium to their team hotel which hosted the 2nd T20I between India and Australia were hurled with a stone which cracked a glass and shattered a window.
It was an unpleasant sight, and the attack apparently shook the Australian cricketers. The team faced a similar situation during their recent tour of Bangladesh.
Aussie all-rounder Moises Henriques who played a pivotal role in helping Australia keep the series alive in Guwahati conceded the fact that though the stone-throwing incident wasn’t ideal, the support from the fans and children of Assam were kind, helping them forget the unfortunate incident. Taking to his Twitter handle, Henriques wrote,
“Whilst the bus home last night wasn’t ideal, the support from fans & children across Assam today in response was kind. Cheers 2 good vibes.”

Chasing a target of 119, Australia were jolted early with twin strikes by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah with the wickets of dangerman David Warner and Aaron Finch. Henriques was lucky to survive a scare when he edged a delivery from Bumrah straight to Dhoni. It was the faintest of edges, but the umpire ruled it in favour of the visitors.
Some of the players went up, and so did Kohli, but Dhoni wasn’t sure about it which prompted Kohli to go against the referral which cost India in the end. Henriques eventually remained unbeaten on 62 and shared an unbeaten 109 runs partnership for the 4th wicket. Meanwhile leg-spinner Adam Zampa also stated the fact it was a scary moment for all the members of the team.
“I had my headphones on quite loud and was looking towards the other side of the bus,” Zampa said. “I just heard this loud bang. It was a pretty scary five seconds or so. Our security guard mentioned quite quickly that it might have been a rock. It was a pretty scary incident. You never want those things to happen. It was disappointing.
“I think everyone was alright. I think after what happened in Bangladesh with the rock as well, no one was too rattled. It was dealt with quite well, I think. The Indian fans are so great to us, which is one of the reasons why it’s so hard to travel here. They’re so loud, they love cricket, and they’re so passionate about it.
“Guwahati doesn’t get much cricket as it is so for one person to do that and to spoil it for the rest of the Indian fans, it’s pretty disappointing,” he further added.
