Following a series win in the T20Is, Team India will look to extend its domination when it hosts West Indies in the first ODI of the series in Chennai on Sunday. India, after failing to defend the target in the second T20I, made a strong comeback and defended a total of 240 in the third T20I.
There are few changes in both the squads as Mayank Agarwal, Shardul Thakur and Kedar Jadhav will join the home side. West Indies will have Shai Hope, Roston Chase, Sunil Amrbris and Alzarri Joseph for the three ODIs. Both Hope and Chase will walk in the playing XI in Chennai.
The last time two teams played an ODI series in India, the home team won the five-mach series 3-1 – the second ODI was a tied-affair.
The conditions in Chennai will be assisting spinners and both the teams look set to play an extra spinner. There are chances of rain during the match and both the teams have had to cancel their net sessions as well. Expect rain to play a part in the opening ODI. Toss isn’t expected to be a big factor in Chennai.
Here is the likely playing XI of both the teams –
In the absence of Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul will move up in the batting order and Mayank Agarwal might have to wait for his chance. The spinning conditions in Chennai could mean that Shardul Thakur might have to wait his comeback in the playing XI.
Expect both Kedar Jadhav and Ravindra Jadeja to be in the playing XI while Shivam Dube might have to wait till the second ODI for his debut.
Likely playing XI: Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Deepak Chahar, Mohammed Shami
The visitors will be bolstered by the comeback of Shai Hope and Roston Chase. Evin Lewis, who suffered a knee issue during the third T20I, is expected to be fit for the opening ODI.
Likely playing XI: Shai Hope, Evin Lewis, Shimron Hetmyer, Roston Chase, Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard, Jason Holder, Keemo Paul, Hayden Walsh, Sheldon Cottrell, Alzarri Joseph
My dream11 for IND vs WI 1st ODI –
Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli (Captain), Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmyer (Vice-captain), Nicholas Pooran, Ravindra Jadeja, Roston Chase, Jason Holder, Deepak Chahar, Hayden Walsh, Yuzvendra Chahal
