Team India dominated the proceeding on day one of the first Test against Windies with debutant Prithvi Shaw smashing a brilliant century at Rajkot.
Meanwhile, the 18-year-old Shaw showed some hint of his talent against a weak Windies bowling. Shanon Gabriel recked some excellent pace with the new ball, but since then it was very ordinary.
India skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and opted to bat first on a flat deck as he made his intention of piling up runs clear at the toss. KL Rahul and young Shaw went to take guard for India, but Gabriel trapped Rahul early to give Windies an edge.

However, since then, it was all India as Shaw and Cheteshwar Pujara looked well in line for big. They went to lunch without losing further wicket with both batters bringing individual half-centuries. Prithvi Shaw was the aggressor of the two playing his natural game and not letting pressure dominate him.
He soon brought his first international hundred to become the 15th Indian to score a century on debut. Furthermore, Shaw became the second Indian opener after Shikhar Dhawan to register a hundred on debut. On the other hand, Pujara looked solid as he rotated the single and brought odd boundaries from here and there.
However, against the run of play, Sherman Lewis caught Pujara off-guard to dismiss him for 86 runs. Windies backed it up with another wicket of Shaw (134) but skipper Virat Kohli ensured that he takes the grip of the game. He shared a 105-run partnership with Ajinkya Rahane as India looked to rack up a massive score.
