Soon after the start the session, Virat Kohli became first Indian batsman to score 1000 runs in three consecutive years. Kohli, however, made a scintillating return after a short break from cricket with a majestic hundred. In doing so, he became the second fastest to 24th Test ton only after Sir Don Bradman.

However, when Virat Kohli looked all in for a mammoth score, he perishes after a well-made 139. Kohli in an attempt to score quick runs drove one on the up which held up on the track. He got the bottom-edge of the bat as the ball lobbed on to mid-on for a simple catch.

This gave the momentum to Windies who removed Ravichandran Ashwin shortly after. Reeling at 545 for seven, Ravindra Jadeja started to break free. He continued his excellent form with the bat from England and Asia Cup to guide his team along with Kuldeep Yadav.

The duo looked for ones and twos while the odd boundaries kept coming as Jadeja marched towards his fifty. He soon reached his half-century moving up the scoring rate despite losing Kuldeep at the other end.  Umesh Yadav then joined the party as he smashed two sixes to bring up the 600 runs for India.

While India kept losing wickets from one end, Ravindra Jadeja brought his hundred in style with the help of five fours and sixes each. He brought his maiden Test hundred, well acknowledged by his teammates.

Soon after Jadeja reached his hundred, Kohli called his players to declare the innings at 649 for nine.
