Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly while praising debutant Prithvi Shaw admitted that it is not right to compare him with the ‘genius’ Virender Sehwag.
Meanwhile, the 18-year-old did justice to his selection as he played with great authority on his maiden Test. He dominated the Windies bowlers bringing his century in just 99 balls. However, Prithvi Shaw eventually got out on 134 runs. In doing so, he became the 15th Indian and second Indian opener to score a debut Test century.

However, Sourav Ganguly feels it is not right to compare him with the talented Sehwag. He also sounded confident that Prithvi Shaw would score runs all over the world.
“Don’t compare him with Sehwag. Sehwag was an absolute genius. Let him go around the world, I am sure he will get runs in Australia, England, and South Africa but don’t compare him with Sehwag,” Ganguly said.
“It must be a phenomenal day for him. To get a hundred on Test debut. He has got a Ranji Trophy hundred on debut, he has got a Duleep trophy debut hundred and an India debut hundred, so it’s phenomenal,” Sourav Ganguly further added.

His temperament and attitude is the best
Talking about Prithvi Shaw’s batting, Ganguly said it is his temperament and attitude towards batting that impressed him the most.
“It’s his positivity, temperament, and attitude to batting which is fantastic. Playing the U-19 World Cup and playing a Test match for India is completely different. What I saw today was extremely pleasing to the eye and hopefully he can play for India for a long, long time,” Sourav Ganguly concluded.
Meanwhile, India have consolidated their position with another scintillating hundred from Virat Kohli. On the other hand, Rishabh Pant is in line for another hundred.
