IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have called in the New Zealand all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme as a replacement of Andre Russell. Andre Russell was banned from playing any form of cricket after the West Indies player did not appear for dope test on several occasions. He was banned by WADA for a period of one year, which ruled him out of the tournament.
Grandhomme made his T20I debut in the year 2012 against Zimbabwe. He made a comeback to national team in November last year where he made an immediate impact in the Test series as he ran through Pakistan batting line up on his debut, where he grabbed 7 wickets, which includes a six fer in first innings. He was awarded the Man of the Match on his début. He late blitz and handy pace bowling can help KKR to fill boots of Russell.
The two time IPL champion will open its campaign against Gujarat Lions on April 7 at SCA stadium in Rajkot.
