Indian Premier League (IPL) is one of the popular tournaments in the cricket world. It is a cash-rich franchise-based professional T20 tournament which is organised by BCCI (Board of Council for Cricket in India) every year since 2008.
One of the most interesting parts in the IPL is the Player’s Auction which is held in every year. Before the auction, there is the lowest base price tag for the each player who participates in that auction. During the auction, franchises bid for interested players. At first, the franchises begin from the particular player’s base price and then raise the price until they win the bid.
Raising the money on a particular player shows that how much the franchise has faith in that player. But results come out during the IPL when the player has to perform on the ground and produces their exact value. The lower cost per performances of a player actually means that the player is more successful.
T20 cricket is known for favouring batsmen big time. Big-hitting is one of the most important and exciting parts of this game. That’s why every franchise gives importance to good batsmen and the all-rounders, during the auction.
Now let’s check out the cost per run of 10 most expensive batsmen who were bought in IPL 2017 Player Auction. (Updated until 21/04/2017)
