John Manoj, the secretary of Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), has confirmed Hyderabad will stage the IPL matches this season as per the schedule.
“IPL is on. I just had a meeting with the police commissioner. You don’t have to believe rumours,” Manoj told Cricbuzz on Thursday (March 23).
Earlier, there were reports that Sunrisers Hyderabad might shift its base to Raipur after 120 employees working in Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) went on strike following the non-payment of their salaries from the past two months. The state association asked the BCCI to disburse funds for the payment but did not get any reply. Manoj revealed the association is in talks with the apex board and will sort out the issue soon.
Defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on the finalists of last year’s IPL Royal Challenges Bangalore in the first game of the tournament on April 5.
In total, the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium will host eight IPL games.
