IPL 2017: Irfan Pathan Lauds Hashim Amla For Amazing Sportsmanship
Irfan Pathan has lauded Kings XI Punjab batsman Hashim Amla for his decision to walk off the ground in the Indian Premier League match against Royal Challengers Bangalore even after being given not out by the umpire.
The incident had occurred on the fifth ball of the very first over when Amla tried to cut an Aniket Choudhary’s delivery but missed to make any contact with the ball which went straight into the gloves of Kedar Jadhav behind the stumps.
However, there was a faint edge which was missed by everyone including the umpire. Not surprisingly, the wicketkeeper, as well as the bowler, did not even bother to appeal since they did not notice the edge but Amla showing a brilliant gesture, ignored the umpire and headed towards the pavilion. Later, the replays confirmed the faintest of the edges took place on the ground.
Praising Amla for his amazing act of sportsmanship, Pathan tweeted:
“How many batsmen would walk without bowler appealing but that’s how this guy plays his cricket @amlahash @IPL #honestman.”
