IPL 2018: 48th Match, KXIP vs RCB – Kings XI Punjab Predicted XI

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) will be desperate for the two points and spoil Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) party when both the teams square off against each other at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on May 14 (Monday).

Meanwhile, both the teams are in contention for the playoffs and cannot afford a loss. However, Bangalore will have the momentum on their side coming from a win against Delhi Daredevils (DD).

Punjab will bank on their top-order to do the job for themselves backed by quality bowlers. Although KL Rahul has been brilliant, Chris Gayle struggled in the last two games.

The wobbly middle-order will keep the Punjab camp worried as the tournament approaches towards its end.

The bowling department was average, however, the Indian seamers need to contribute more to derail the Royal Challengers’ batting line-up.

However, the Lions are likely o field the same XI against RCB.

Here is the predicted XI of Kings XI Punjab:

Lokesh Rahul (wk):

In-form KL Rahul has had an outstanding start to this year’s IPL. He has been one of their consistent performers so far.

Meanwhile, he needs to give Punjab another quickfire start if they want to come to winning ways

Chris Gayle:

After a blistering start to the tournament, the Universe Boss has struggled to score runs in the last two games.

He will have to provide support to Rahul and help Punjab post a staggering total.

Mayank Agarwal:

The top-order batsman Mayank Agarwal is yet to show his domestic form in the Twenty20 league. He needs to strike the right chords as early as possible.

However, he will be keen to shrug off his one-season wonder tag.

Karun Nair:

Karun Nair so far has had a mixed series in the league. He has contributed in the middle-order for Punjab, however, is yet to put his best foot forward.

He holds the key in the middle-overs as he rotates the strike quite well.

Aaron Finch:

Although Aaron Finch hasn’t had a great tournament, he is capable of shifting gears any time.

Punjab will bank on him against RCB and inch closer to the playoffs.

Ravichandran Ashwin (c):

Ace off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has led the team from the front. He has picked up wickets and has also chipped in with useful contributions with the bat.

He will have to be on his toes to contain a heavyweight Bangalore batting unit.

Axar Patel:

The all-rounder has been in and out of the squad. So far, he has played only six games and has been average with both bat and bat.

He will have to step to justify his selection in the playing XI.

Andrew Tye:

After a slow start, Andrew Tye has been brilliant for the Punjab side with the ball. He is currently the Purple Cap holder and will look to continue his prime form.

The Punjab camp will bank on his rattle the stalwarts in RCB batting.

Barinder Sran:

The left-arm seamer Barinder Sran had an average stint so far, however, will be keen to improve his performance.

Punjab will want him to put his best foot forward and help his team secure crucial two points.

Mohit Sharma:

The experienced campaigner Mohit Sharma has had a very poor tournament so far. He has failed to pick wickets as Punjab have struggled with their bowling at times.

However, Mohit is capable of using his variations and knows how to make a comeback.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman:

The young mystery spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman from Afghanistan has done a stunning job for the Punjab side so far in this season. He has been economical throughout in the middle-overs.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman’s form will be crucial for the Kings XI Punjab as the tournament is nearing its business end.
