The Chennai Super Kings home matches for the ongoing season of IPL has been shifted out of Chennai to Pune.
The state administrators have expressed that they cant give assurance to provide enough security measures for the upcoming home matches for CSK.
It will be a big setback for the Chennai crowd. They had waited for two years to see their team in action. Chennai was suspended from playing in the league for two years. Their owners were allegedly involved in betting and fixing.
“The matches had to be shifted out of Chennai as police had said that they were unable to provide security in the prevailing situation. CSK is not averse to shifting base to Pune,” Chairman of IPL Rajik Sukla was quoted as saying.
Harbhajan Singh who is a part of the Chennai Super Kings outfit in this edition expressed his disappointment at the prospect of IPL being moved out of Chennai. Taking to his twitter handle he wrote,
“Heartbreaking news..no more ipl games in chennai.. fans have waited two years for CSK to play in front of them at home..hope all the issues get solved soon and matches come back to Chennai soon…Thank u for your love, wishes, prayers would be needed all the time.”

The Committee of Administrator, Vinod Rai was earlier quoted as per PTI that the prevailing situation has forced them to explore four different alternative venues ready. Barring Pune, Vishakapatnam, Thiruvananthapuram, and Rajkot were shortlisted as the standby venues.
As per reports, the source was asked the reason behind Pune getting the nod ahead of the other cities.
The source replied it was Dhoni’s home ground for the last couple of seasons. It made more logistical sense to shift the home matches there. Dhoni is used to the conditions in Pune and will be eager to make Pune their fortress.
“There are only a few direct flights available from Vizag. If the team has to travel to Indore, then they had to reach Indore via Delhi. Pune has better connectivity, so it was decided that CSK shift base to Pune,” the source said.
