Chennai Super Kings (CSK) management has confirmed that Kedar Jadhav will undergo scans at Chennai hospital – to determine the extent of his recent hamstring injury.
Meanwhile, Jadhav sustained an injury during Indian Premier League (IPL) opener against Mumbai Indians at iconic Wankhede on April 7.
Jadhav, however, returned to the field, for a last over flourish – to seal the game for CSK after Dwayne Bravo set up the tempo
“We will know the extent of his injury only after the scans and put out an update on Monday,” CSK CEO said.
Moreover, Chennai had a historic comeback to the tournament beating the defending champions Indians in a cliffhanger.
Batting first, Mumbai posted 165 on the board after a late cameo from Krunal Pandya. Ishan Kishan and Surya Kumar Yadav also provided good support. However, it was Pandya’s knock that ensured MI go past 150.
In reply, CSK had a very poor start losing wickets on a regular basis. Young debutant Mayank Markande and Hardik Pandya broke Chennai’s backbone with three wickets each.
The yellow brigade in the form of CSK lost all hopes when Chennai was reeling at 118 for eight with Bravo at the crease.
However, the Windies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo had different things in mind.
He did an absolute turnover taking Jasprit Bumrah for 20 runs in the penultimate over. Although was got in the last ball of 19th, before easing things for CSK.
Seven runs needed in six deliveries, Jadhav returned from the dugout – to turn into Chennai’s hero. After facing three dot balls from Mustafizur Rahman, he struck the fourth and fifth to six and four respectively to win the match.
After a positive start on the comeback, MS Dhoni and his men will look to continue this momentum, as Kedar Jadhav is being observed by the medical team.
CSK will face Kolkata Knight Riders at home on April 10.
