IPL 2018: Match 32, Delhi Daredevils vs Rajasthan Royals – Delhi Daredevils Predicted XI
Nov 26, 2018 at 12:27 PM
Delhi Daredevils (DD) will be desperate to bring the much-needed two points under their belt when they square off against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi on May 2 (Wednesday).
Meanwhile, Delhi is currently languishing at the bottom of the table with only two wins. However, they will have to win all of their remaining games to give themselves a chance of qualifying.
The Daredevils have struggled, as their overseas recruits have failed to come good except Trent Boult. Moreover, only Rishabh Pant showed the required consistency, as he lacked partners at the other end.
However, they will have to come out of their poor season and put their best foot forward from the next game. The Delhi team under the leadership of young Shreyas Iyer will look to change things in their favour.
It is likely they will field the same team from the last game and will want a useful contribution from every cricketer.
Here is the predicted XI of the Daredevils:
Prithvi Shaw:
The young Shaw has made an early mark in his IPL career. However, he needs to score runs consistently to provide Delhi with a good start. The Delhi dugout will want a responsible knock from Prithvi at the start of the innings.
Colin Munro:
The swashbuckling New Zealand opener has struggled so far in this tournament. He is yet to justify his selection and contribute to team’s cause. Munro needs to put his A game forward in a do-or-die clash against Rajasthan.
Shreyas Iyer:
The young skipper will have to shoulder additional responsibilities apart from scoring runs for the team. So far, Iyer has scored runs only on few occasions and has lacked consistency.
He will have to lead the batting order if Delhi wants to put a big score on the board.
Glenn Maxwell:
The Australian all-rounder has failed miserably in the tournament. He has had no contribution to team’s success so far. Meanwhile, this is high time, Maxwell stands tall and takes the onus on himself to rescue his team from danger.
Rishabh Pant:
The young wicket-keeper batsman has been the only consistent performer of the side. However, his efforts went in vain, as he lacked support from the other end.
Therefore, Pant apart from playing his game will hope for some contribution from his teammates.
Vijay Shankar:
After having a poor show from the start of the tournament, Vijay finally scored some runs in the last game. However, he will have to continue his performance in upcoming fixtures for Delhi.
The Daredevils dugout will want an all-round performance from the Tamil Nadu cricketer.
Rahul Tewatia:
Tewatia started the tournament on a high but gradually lost his form. His role will be to contain runs in the middle-overs with his mighty leg-spin. The young spinning all-rounder has a few variations in his hand and can trouble the batsmen.
Liam Plunkett:
Coming in as a replacement, Plunkett has proved his worth in the last two games. However, he needs to carry his superlative effort and change Delhi’ fate. Meanwhile, Plunkett can chip in with some useful run in the lower-order which will provide depth to the Daredevils batting unit.
Amit Mishra:
The veteran leg-spinner will have to stand up and do the job for his team. The Delhi dugout will want Mishra to pick wickets along with restricting the free run flow.
Meanwhile, so far in this season, Mishra has done nothing to boast about.
Avesh Khan:
Replacing Mohammed Shami in the playing XI, the young Avesh Khan has proved his mettle in the limited opportunities. He will look to carry this forward in the upcoming fixtures. However, this is a learning curve for the young seamer and will grow as a cricketer.
Trent Boult:
The speedster from New Zealand is the only overseas recruit to contribute to team’s success. He will have to bring out his superlative game if Delhi wants to make any inroads to the Royals batting.
Meanwhile, Boult will have to lead the bowling attack and continue doing his job.
