Sunrisers Hyderabad ruined Rajasthan Royals’ comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a thumping nine-wicket win at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Monday night.

However, chasing a modest target of 126, the Sunrisers reached home with 25 balls to spare.  Their chase began on a shaky note as Wriddhiman Saha departed for just five.

However, Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson made sure that the Royals do not claw their way back. Dhawan was the aggressive partner during the match-defining stand while Williamson played the second-fiddle role perfectly.

The India batting star Dhawan reached his fifty off just 33 balls. At the end of the tenth over, the game looked as good as over, as the scoreboard was reading 89 for one.

Moreover, it was one-way traffic from thereon as the hosts crossed the line in the 16th over. Dhawan remained unbeaten on 77 while Williamson scored 36*.

Earlier in the game, Royals lost wickets at regular intervals and were eventually restricted to 125 for nine in 20 allotted overs.

Sent in to bat first, they were off to a poor start. In-form D’Arcy Short was run out for just four in the very first over.

In addition, skipper Ajinkya Rahane also departed quickly as Royal found themselves reeling at 52 for 2.

Similarly, there were more miseries for the Royals as the innings progressed. Ben Stokes was out for just five before Sanju Samson and Rahul Tripathi returned to the hut.

However, Shakib Al Hasan dismissed both of them inside an over to reduce the visitors to 94 for five.

Moreover, Rahul Tripathi was the first to depart after scoring 17 before Samson joined him, falling one shot of a fifty.

To runs later, Siddharth Kaul accounted for K Gowtham to put the hosts firmly on top.

But, the story remained the same for the rest of the innings as they failed to put up a big score against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Here is how Twitter reacted to the innings:
