Mumbai Indians (MI) recovered from a poor start to post a huge 213 for six against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Tuesday (April 17) evening. Evin Lewis and Rohit Sharma starred with the bat, scoring fifties to help Mumbai post the daunting total.
Virat Kohli‘s decision to bat first was proved right straightaway by Umesh Yadav. The in-form pacer castled Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan on the first two deliveries of the innings.
However, Evin Lewis soon helped Mumbai move on from the setback with some delightful shots. At the end of the four overs, Mumbai were 40 for two with Rohit Sharma giving company to southpaw Lewis.
By the end of the powerplay, the hosts raced away to 60 for two. The duo soon found their rhythm as Mumbai recovered from a disastrous start.
At the halfway mark, the scoreboard was reading 95 for two. By then Lewis had completed his fifty while Rohit was proving to be his perfect partner. They shared a big partnership of 108 runs before Corey Anderson sent back Lewis.
The Windies powerhouse scored 65 off 42 balls with the help of six fours and five sixes.
Rohit Sharma took charge from thereon and went on to complete his fifty off 32 balls.
From there one all hell broke loose as Rohit took the bowlers to the cleaners. He remained till the last over, scoring 94 off 52 balls to help Mumbai finish strongly.
Concluding, Hardik Pandya, who was a bit lucky smashed two sixes and a boundary in his cameo of five-ball 17 for Mumbai Indians.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the innings:
Couple of good overs in from #RCB. On a ground like this, even that can affect a game. Remember even 200 isn't safe….

Either Virat Kohli has no captaincy skills or Rohit Sharma is beyond Kohli's imagination. There is no third thing. Admit it.

Really heartening to see Mumbai Indians’ fight back from being two down for nothing when they know they will eventually lose the match and remain at the bottom of the table.#MIvRCB

Umesh Yadav is that kind of a bowler who can show you the image of Dale Steyn & Ishant Sharma's bowling in a single match.#RCBvMI
