IPL 2018: Suresh Raina to Miss Two IPL Matches Due to a Calf Injury

The return has been quite a tough one for Chennai Super Kings this season. After returning back to the league after a two-year ban, Chennai Super Kings are currently in a huge injury crisis as another major blow struck in the form of Suresh Raina.

Earlier, the Super Kings camp had lost Mitchell Santner before the start of the season eleven.

The franchise then lost Kedar Jadhav after the first match against Mumbai Indians on April 7. The talented Indian batsman was ruled out for the rest of the tournament. He suffered a Grade-2 hamstring tear which forced him to be sidelined for few weeks.

Suresh Raina Joins The List:

Super Kings’ legend Suresh Raina is the latest to join the injury bench. The talented left-hander had suffered a calf injury while batting against Kolkata Knight Riders. He was then forced to play big hits and caught in the deep during his brief innings.

The southpaw was later seen with a strapped calf during Chennai’s innings. The signs were obviously not good and it is now confirmed that he will be missing the next two games for the yellow brigade.

Chennai managed to win the thriller once again courtesy Sam Billings. The team had so far managed to win both their games quite closely. But they are once again looking like the side to deliver big this season.

Packed with experienced match winners, Chennai had looked good enough to pull off the wins in crunch situations on both occasions.

However, with the loss of Raina, the middle order looks quite bleak owing to the experience.

The loss of both Jadhav and Raina could haunt the team in the next couple of games. They have the option of drafting in Murali Vijay and dropping one of Shane Watson or Ambati Rayudu into the middle order.

Another worrying sight has been the woeful form of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The skipper could not find his groove playing at No.4 for the side so far.

The Chennai fans are clearly hoping that their favorite star would be back to his absolute best in the coming games. His form could play a huge role in the way Chennai team plays over the course of the season as Suresh Raina has somewhat left the void in middle-order line-up.
