Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) fast bowler Vinay Kumar has slammed his critics who questioned his abilities after a last-over thriller against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Cheapauk on Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, Kumar had a very bad outing in the last encounter. He gave away 35 runs in 1.5 overs as Kolkata lost the thriller by five wickets.
Moreover, he failed to defend 17 runs in the last over as the Knight Riders suffered their first defeat of the ongoing edition of Twenty20 league. He bowled a no-ball (six) to start off the last over with powerful Dwayne Bravo hitting it over fine-leg.
Bravo, then struck the free hit for two runs and Kumar followed it up with three tight deliveries including a wide.
However, Jadeja, who was looking out of touch struck a towering six off the second last ball to finish things off in style for the Super Kings.
Previously, KKR banked on Andre Russell’s blazing knock to post such a total.
The Windies all-rounder Russell struck an unbeaten 88 off just 36 balls – to register the 200-run mark in IPL 2018.
Moreover, he went all guns blazing and registered 11 sixes and one four.
At the halfway mark, it looked like a daunting task for the host with a required run-rate of over 10 runs. But some outstanding hitting from Sam Billings ensured that they continue the winning run.
Billings struck a 23-ball 56 including five sixes and two boundaries as CSK inched closer.
Meanwhile, Shane Watson and Ambati Rayadu provided a brilliant start and kept CSK in the hunt. Watson struck a 19-ball 42 while Rayadu scored 39 runs.
However, after the match, Kumar received many rash comments and many questioned his place in the team, Kumar hits back.
In addition, he has come out on social media and defended himself. He also urged everybody to ‘chill’ and admitted that sometimes things go wrong.
“Hey guys take it easy, it’s just a game. Where were you all when I defended 9 runs against RCB and 10 runs against Mumbai Indians!! Sometimes things do go wrong so CHILL….” Kumar tweeted.
