IPL 2019: Ajinkya Rahane-Steven Smith Show Puts Rajasthan Royals On Top, Twitter Reacts
Apr 22, 2019 at 9:43 PM
What a night it was for Ajinkya Rahane and Rajasthan Royals’ fans at Jaipur. The classy opening batsman kept his brilliant cricketing skills at the display to make things fall in place for his side. Meanwhile, Steven Smith also knocked a brilliant fifty to put the team on a driver seat.
Initially, it was Shreyas Iyer, who won the toss, elected to bowl first. They got a brilliant start, as they got the young Sanju Samson for a golden duck. In fact, Samsom hasn’t faced a single delivery, as he was dismissed in the run-out fashion. Rabada was brilliant in hitting the bull-eye.
Ajinkya Rahane brought his century in 58 balls:
However, Ajinkya Rahane took the onus on his shoulders to give a quick start for the team. He looked in a different nick tonight, where he smashed Delhi bowlers to all corners of the park. Rahane, who was lucky in getting dropped in the hand of Ishant, used the chance to perfection.
He never stopped himself from flourishing his willow, as he found the middle of the bat more often than not. In between, Steven Smith also found his touch, where he smashed boundaries more often than not.
He bagged yet another century to his name before stitching a fantastic 130-run partnership for the second wicket. Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane continued his good show at the other end, to smash a brilliant century in just 58 balls.
After a fine time, Axar Patel dismissed Steven Smith while Chris Morris got Ben Stokes for a cheap score. Shockingly, Ashton Turner bagged yet another golden duck to his name., However, in the end, it was Stuart Binny and Rahane, who helped them to post 191 runs on the board. Delhi’s death bowling was fantastic as well.
Here are a few Tweets:
People who think that removing Rahane from captaincy is a good thing….should have also said that naming him as a captain was a bad move in the first place. #JustSaying #RRvDC

Rahane’s flamboyant innings today was like an opera in cricket’s Rock format.
If only he could play such knocks more consistently and do justice to his abundant talent and class, maybe the no. 4 conundrum would never have existed. #RRvDC #IPL2019

Good start by the top order isn't being made full use by middle order and to be honest this has been the trend in #IPL2019. #RRvDC
