Well, once again Rajasthan Royals turned to Ajinkya Rahane to lead the side in the ongoing tournament in the absence of Steve Smith. The classy right-handed batsman has found his form after leaving the captaincy but now, he is once again going to lead the side in the tournament.

Recently, ahead of the game against Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals came up with a shocking decision to sack Ajinkya Rahane from the captaincy. They gave the reins to Steven Smith, who was supposed to be the captain of the ship before the ban in the last year edition of IPL.

Ajinkya Rahane found his form:

Ajinkya Rahane displayed poor captaincy skills in the tournament so far. Under his captaincy, they won only 2 games in the 8 matches. However, he found his form with the willow when it mattered the most for the Rajasthan Royals.

All his brilliant performances once again saw the franchise asking him to lead the franchise in absence of Steve Smith. The Australian flew back home in order to join the camp that is being trained for the ICC World Cup 2019.

Coming to Rajasthan Royals, they would have been knocked out of the tournament if Sunrisers Hyderabad had won the game against Mumbai Indians. However, they are still in the race with Hyderabad losing the game. They got one game under their kitty, which is to be played against Delhi Capitals.

IPL

It is a must-win clash for Rajasthan Royals to stay in the playoff race. They need to win the game and hope for the other results to go in their way to seal the spot in the playoffs. They made it into the playoffs in a similar way in the last year edition of IPL as well.

Currently, they are placed fifth in the points table with 11 points in their kitty. They will travel to Delhi for their final clash in the group stage. It will be played on May 4th at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi.
