On Tuesday, Mumbai Indians announced their replacement for the injured Alzarri Joseph. They named South African star bowler Beuran Hendricks to replace the Windies fast bowler for the remainder of the tournament. Alzarri Joseph suffered a shoulder injury, which saw him returning back home.

Alzarri Joseph had a sensational debut in the T20 league against hosts Sunrisers Hyderabad. He bowled a brilliant spell to grab a record 6/12. They are the best bowling figures for a debutant in the Indian Premier League after almost 11 years.

Alzarri Joseph, Mumbai Indians, Beauran Hendricks

Beauran Hendricks previously played for KXIP:

However, the heroics were restricted to only one game, as he went for 53 runs against Rajasthan Royals. It wasn’t just a night of him, as Jos Buttler was on a song on that day, who whacked even yorkers to the boundary fence. In the very same game, he injured his shoulder.

Meanwhile, the addition of Beauran Hendricks would be a brilliant one for Mumbai Indians. He got all the required ingredients to make things fall in place for Mumbai. Hendricks also got the vast experience under his belt in the white-ball cricket.

So far, Beauran Hendricks featured for South Africa in 2 ODI games and 10 T20I games as well. This is his second stint in the Indian Premier League, as he was previously featured for Kings XI Punjab in the tournament.

Ironically, Alzarri Joseph was also picked as the replacement by Mumbai Indians. They named him as a replacement for Adam Milne, who suffered an injury ahead of the tournament. However, it would be interesting to see how things would turn out for the youngster.

All in all, it is a good addition for Mumbai Indians, as he will stay with the team for entire tournament. Currently, Mumbai Indians are placed third in the points table. In the next assignment, they will take on Chennai Super Kings at Cheppauk Stadium.
