South African batsman David Miller has started off the IPL on a brighter note while slamming 59 not out against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). But he has struggled overall in the ongoing twelfth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2019).
In seven matches so far, Miller has accumulated 171 runs at an average of 34.30.
The Proteas middle-order batsman Miller stated IPL had its significance.
David Miller sets his sights on the 2019 World Cup:

He believes the extended stay in the league is an advantage ahead of the 2019 World Cup.
While talking about the workload, Miller reiterated IPL is a huge tourney, and plenty of cricket is to be played in a calendar year.
“There is so much cricket in a year. So, it is what it is. The IPL is a big tournament. And now we are playing the tournament before the World Cup, so it is good to stay in the game,” Miller told Sportstar.
Miller maintained he had enjoyed his stay with Punjab-based franchise. He added it’s pleasing to perform in whatever way possible for the team.
“I have really enjoyed my time so far this season. It is always good to contribute,” Miller said.
Interestingly, the southpaw is the part of South Africa’s 15-man squad for the World Cup. Earlier, on Thursday Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced a coveted squad.
But all-rounder Chris Morris was left out from the squad. Miller added it’s a good team.
“We have played for many years together, it is a really nice squad and I am happy with it. We have to finish the IPL games before we get there,” Miller added.
Miller on KXIP’s remainder of the IPL matches:
In his recent match, Miller faced 27-balls to score 40 against Rajasthan Royals (RR). However, he is keen to improve his game and prove his credentials.
Overall, KXIP has played an excellent cricket which saw Ravichandran Ashwin-led side making it to the top four with five wins in nine matches.
Regarding the playoffs opportunity for KXIP, Miller revealed they’d set focus to give their best in their remainder of the games.
“We have five games to go. Our goal is to play good cricket in the next five games and not think about the playoffs at the moment. We are not worrying about the finals right now,” Miller inferred.
Miller will be keen to score runs at a brisk pace.
