All eyes were on Ishant Sharma when the auctioneer called out Ishant Sharma’s name in the ongoing IPL auction. The pacer had a base price of Rs75 lakh in this year’s IPL auction. Ishant had gone unsold in the last year’s. His exploits in white-ball cricket has not been so impressive.
Before being ignored in last year’s IPL auction Ishant had played for various franchises which include Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kings XI Punjab, Deccan Chargers, Rising Pune Supergiants and Kolkata Knight Riders. He had taken 59 wickets in a total of 76 matches. No surprises then that he is not very much in demand in T20s.

But luckily, Ishant managed to get a bidder this time around. Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab tried to sign him before the former secured his services for INR 1.10 crore.
Delhi will be hoping their fortunes change in the upcoming edition. The national capital-based outfit is one of the perennial underachievers in the league. More often than not, they have ended up with the wooden spoon.
In eleven seasons, they progressed ahead of the league stage just thrice and are yet to reach the final. Their last play-off appearance came way back in 2012. Since then, they have not managed to finish above sixth. Hopes were high when they assembled a strong squad last year. But they disappointed once again and failed to progress to the next stage.
