IPL 2019: It Was Nice To Get Virat Kohli And AB de Villiers – Harbhajan Singh
It was a brilliant day at the office for Harbhajan Singh in the first game of the tournament against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Veteran off-spinner made things fall in place with his stunning display of off-spin bowling. His brilliant spell fetched him the man of the match award.
Justifying the toss decision of MS Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh delivered goods for the team by removing three big fishes of Bangalore. Initially, he sent the dangerous Virat Kohli back to the hut and later bagged the wickets of Moeen Ali and AB de Villiers.
It is a special one for me – Harbhajan Singh
Speaking of the performance, Harbhajan Singh expressed his delight for bagging the man of the match award. He also added that bowling with the new ball was special and felt really well to bag match-winning wickets for the team.
Harbhajan Singh gave credit to his wife and daughter for the award before acknowledging that the experience of sitting next to the legendary players in the commentary box helped his game.
”I have learnt quite a lot while sitting next to the legends in the commentary box. It is nice to be out there in the park and it is a special one for me. I would like to give a lot of credit to my wife and daughter for this award. You can’t ask for a better start – they had a lot of left-handers and Fleming told me that I would be playing and bowling in the powerplay. It was nice to get a wicket up front and it gets easier after that. Nice to get the Man of the Match in the first match,” Harbhajan Singh quoted.
It was a nice challenge –
Further, the veteran off-spinner quoted that it was a nice task for him to bowl in the powerplay overs. He is hopeful of coming with similar performances for the team when it matters the most.
”Hopefully we can carry on from here. Imran bowled really well in the latter part; it was nice to get Virat’s and AB’s wickets. It is a nice challange and it is nice to sit on this side and take this award,” he said after collecting the man of the match trophy.
All in all, it has been a great day at the office for the veteran off-spinner. He made perfect use of the conditions with his experience. He was equally supported by Imran Tahir and Ravindra Jadeja.
