IPL 2019: KL Rahul Guides Kings XI Punjab To Victory, Twitter Reacts
Mar 30, 2019 at 7:41 PM
Kings XI Punjab started their home season with a beautiful victory facing Mumbai Indians. The collective batting display that was led by KL Rahul did the trick for the home side. It was their second win in the series while a second loss of the season for Mumbai Indians.
Initially, it was Ravichandran Ashwin, who won the toss, asked visitors to bat first. Rohit Sharma started things off in a style while Quinton de Kock showed his class in the middle. However, South African star Viljoen trapped Rohit Sharma in front of the wicket to give a first breakthrough for the home side.
The right-hander Surya Kumar Yadav started his innings with a brilliant couple of boundaries. However, Murugan Ashwin struck him in front of the wickets. In between, Quinton de Kock continued his form in the middle by smashing a quickfire 60.
In the end, it was once again Hardik Pandya, who smashed a superb 31 off 19 balls, which saw Mumbai Indians post a competitive total of 176 runs on the board. For KXIP, it was Murugan Ashwin, who picked up 2 wickets alongside Viljoen and Mohammed Shami.
In reply to Mumbai Indians, the stylish southpaw Chris Gayle started things off in a flash while KL Rahul took a cautious approach.
After scoring 40 runs off 23 balls, Gayle handed a catch to Hardik Pandya to return to the pavilion. Then came the knock from Mayank Agarwal, which kept the home side in the game.
But, a beautiful return catch saw Mayank Agarwal walk back to the hut. However, the opening batsman KL Rahul and the South African star David Miller finished things off in a style. This is their second victory of the season while a second loss for Kings XI Punjab.

Now that Rahul’s taken so long, he must stay till the end to finish the game. One boundary in 37 balls. SR of 83 in a 175+ run chase.

Respect @krunalpandya24 … that’s exactly how you deal with a Mankad … Give the Batsman a warning then it’s open season after that … #IPL2019

The Problem @mipaltan are facing is that the set batsman has not been carry on till the end of the innings!
Someone needs to put their hand up and just play through the overs!
Well played KL, Agarwal and Gayle! #IPL2019 #KXIPvMI— Samay Turakhia (@samay_srt) March 30, 2019
KL Rahul needs to see his side home here. He's been extremely cautious, playing just 3% false shots, and he needs to bring that control to bear on the final overs. He's set – now he has to make it count. #KXIPvMI #IPL2019

So far this season MI are letting themselves down in the middle overs where they are losing a wicket every three overs. This is robbing them of a platform & momentum for the death. They were saved by Hardik against RCB but it has cost them today. 176 was not enough. #IPL #KXIPvMI

Many issues to resolve for @mipaltan. The logjam in the middle and the rekindling of Hardik Pandya the bowler.
