Delhi Capitals (DC) finally cracked the Kotal pitch to beat Kings XI Punjab in the 37th game of Indian Premier League 2019 by five wickets at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi.

Chasing, Delhi Capitals lost Prithvi Shaw courtesy a brilliant run out from Mandeep Singh. Shikhar Dhawan and Shaw mixed up in the middle which gave Mandeep enough time to hit the bullseye. Reeling at 24 for one in 3.1 overs, skipper Shreyas joined Dhawan in the middle. The duo rotated the strike brilliantly to keep the scoreboard ticking. They dominated the Punjab bowlers who struggled to make any inroads in the Delhi Capitals batting order.

They added 92 runs for the second wicket and in the process, Dhawan brought another half-century. It will be massive news for the Indian fans ahead of the World Cup. The wicket of Dhawan – by a brilliant catch from Ravichandran Ashwin led to another dismissal that of Rishabh Pant from an irresponsible shot. Mohammed Shami bowled a brilliant 19th over to provide two wickets to bring the equation to six runs from the last over. Shreyas Iyer held his composure to win the tie for his tie convincingly.

Previously, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) opener Chris Gayle scored a stunning half-century to guide his team post 163 runs against Delhi Capitals at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi. However, they didn’t have a good start at all as they lost their inform batsman KL Rahul in the second over. However, it didn’t matter to Gayle as he went bonkers against the Delhi bowlers. Just when things looked bright for the visiting team, they lost Mayank Agarwal to reel at 42 for two. David Miller, who has been out of form also followed the pack soon to make things worse for the Kings XI Punjab.
