Sunrisers Hyderabad returned to winning g ways within a comprehensive 45 runs victory in the 48th match of Vivo IPL 12. The victory was largely built around a brilliant knock from David Warner. He batted well with the likes of Manish Pandey and Mohammad Nabi and ensured Hyderabad reached a huge score of 212 in their allotted 20 overs. Barring a stunning knock from KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal none of the batters got going which saw KXIP lose by a huge margin of 45 runs in the end.

The day began with Kings XI Punjab skipper winning the toss and putting the oppositions in. In place of Jonny Bairstow, it was Wriddhiman Saha who came out to open the innings with David Warner. The southpaw who was playing in his final match of the tournament continued his sensational run of form and went onto score 81 of 56 deliveries which contained 7 fours and a couple of sixes.

Wriddhiman Saha also began brilliantly and struck a quickfire 28 of 13 deliveries. After a 78 runs partnership in just 6.2 overs, it was Murugan Ashwin who dismissed Wriddhiman Saha. Manish Pandey and Warner continued the SRH onslaught as they looked to get close to 250. Mohammad Nabi also struck a quickfire 20 of 10 deliveries. Eventually, SRH posted a daunting score of 211 in their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing a victory target of 212 runs, Kings XI Punjab needed to get off to a sizzling start. However, they lost the wicket of Chris Gayle pretty early. It was a good partnership from KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal which brought them back into the game. However the target was massive and after the loss of Agarwal’s wicket, it was a target way too much.

Khaleel Ahmed started off the collapse for Punjab with a brilliant spell. Yet again it was Rashid Khan who controlled the match in the middle overs and bagged 3 crucial wickets which proved to be the final nail in the coffin for them. Eventually, Kings XI, Punjab managed to score just 167 in their allotted 20 overs. Despite the collapse at the other end, KL Rahul played a stunning knock 79 of 56 deliveries which included 4 fours and 5 sixes.

Now here is what winning Man of the Match David Warner said at the post-match presentation

It’s obviously great to get out there and do your job properly. We’ve got a great deck to bat on. The groundstaff has worked tirelessly to prepare good wickets and then it’s about going back to basics and backing your instincts. I think it just goes back to being still as a batsman. I get the tendency to moving around a bit if there have been a few dots.

But I have worked hard over the last few months. Just put the bat down and tried to be the best man I can be, the best husband I can be and that’s worked for me. Yeah, I try to be the funny man in the team, the prankster.

The gameplan is to back yourself, the first six overs is crucial with bat or ball, And it;s all simple. Just back your natural game. This World Cup, you’ll see some high scores. Hopefully, the ball doesn’t swing as much. Obviously, England are the home team and they’re great. We’re world champions. I’m sure it’ll be great”
