IPL 2019: Michael Vaughan Is Livid With MS Dhoni For Walking Into The Ground To Argue With Umpire

The Indian Premier League 2019 was as dramatic as ever in the history of the tournament so far. There are umpiring blunders, last-ball thrillers, mind-boggling fielding efforts and what not, in the short stint so far, IPL delivered everything. On top of all, it also showed MS Dhoni losing his control on emotions and walking to the middle to argue with the umpire, something, which none would have expected. Meanwhile, Michael Vaughan expressed his disappointment.
Last night, in the final over, Ben Stokes delivered a high full toss and while the umpire signalled a no-ball, Bruce Oxenford at square said it was a legal delivery. On-field batsmen Ravindra Jadeja and Mitchell Santner immediately got into an argument with the umpires while MS Dhoni charged onto the field and got involved in a heated argument.
You can’t set examples like that – Michael Vaughan
The whole incident didn’t please the former England skipper Michael Vaughan. He quoted that what MS Dhoni did was wrong, as the opposing team captain can never walk like that to the middle and argue with the umpires.
Further, he also quoted that Mahendra Singh Dhoni can do anything in this country but he feels that walking into the middle was wrong on his part. He doesn’t want a legendary player like MS Dhoni setting such examples for the youngsters.
“The skipper (Dhoni) coming on to the pitch can not happen. I know it’s MS Dhoni and he can do anything in this country but you are not allowed to leave the dug out and go and point a finger at the umpire. That’s a complete no-no, you can’t be setting that example as a captain.” Vaughan said in the Starsports dugout.
This is not a good look for the game … No place at all for a Captain to storm onto the pitch from the Dugout … !! #IPL

Very disappointed with MS Dhoni and Ravichandran Ashwin – Mark Taylor
Meanwhile, the other former legendary cricketer quoted that he is disappointed with a couple of incidents in the tournament. One is the Mankading incident when the skipper of Kings XI Punjab Ravichandran Ashwin ran out Jos Buttler and the other is MS Dhoni walking to the middle.
“I know there’s pressure from owners and big money involved in the IPL but I’ve been very disappointed with the two incidents involving the skippers of there respective teams in Ashwin and MS. Not a good look at all,” he wrote on his Twitter panel.

However, regarding the same, MS Dhoni was handed fine of 50% of his match fees. He was charged under Article 2.20 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct refers to actions that are contrary to the spirit of the game. The 50% fine levied on Dhoni is the minimum sanction for a Level 2 offence for the first time. Dhoni accepted the charges as well.
