IPL 2019: Sam Billings Suffers Shoulder Injury, Ireland Tour In Jeopardy
Sam Billings, who returned from India to play in the county match against Glamorgan for Kent has suffered a shoulder injury while fielding the ball. This puts his contention for the upcoming Ireland tour in doubt, which was the only way for him to press his case for the world cup selection.
Sam Billings is leading the Kent Cricket team against Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens. As per Sky Sports, Billings, in an attempt to stop the drive of Marnus Labuschagne, got hurt on his shoulder, which saw him walking out of the park with immediate effect.
Sam Billings made his first appearance for Kent:
The reports are yet to come out. But, by the looks, it is learnt that he got a major injury, as he was yelling in pain. Surprisingly, he hasn’t done the wicket-keeper gloves for the team despite being a regular.
Recently, the flamboyant striker of the ball, Billings has been named in England’s ODI team to face Ireland in the one-off ODI on May 3, but not in England’s ICC World Cup 2019 preliminary squad.
Ironically, this is not the first injury concern for Kent. They already lost quite a few players because of the injuries. The recent player to pick up an injury ahead of Sam Billings is Joe Denly, who got a stiff back.
The players are picking injuries at the wrong time. Recently, we came across Tom Curran and Jason Roy, who is in the world cup squad being injured while Alex Hales has taken an indefinite break. Meanwhile, Denly, who also got the nod for world cup also got a back injury.
Coming back to Kent cricket team, they are at the bottom of the points table. They lost all their four games so far in the tournament. In the fifth assignment, they are locking horns with Glamorgan.
