The Australian batsmen Ashton Turner has grabbed the eyeballs of the cricketing fans with his scintillating knock in the fourth ODI at Mohali against Indian National Cricket team. His unbeaten knock of 84 runs from just 43 balls helped the Aussies level terms in the series. His swashbuckling knock has certainly lit up the eyes of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) fans as Turner will turn up for the Royals in the upcoming edition of the IPL. Meanwhile, it was their brand ambassador Shane Warne who called the owners and asked them to pick Ashton Turner.

Warne spill beans on the story

The Royals roped in the services of Ashton Turner for Rs 50 lakh only. But the Jaipur fans have started rejoicing following the match-winning knock by the Aussie batter. Shane Warne in a recent interview revealed how they have seemingly landed another star player without spending too much money. Warne disclosed that after speaking to former England cricketer Dimitri Mascheranas and watching Ashton Turner playing in the Big Bash League was the reason behind RR’s move to rope him in for the IPL. Following his excellent show in the BBL, Warne called the owners and asked them to sign him.

The spin legend also hailed Ashton Turner’s batting abilities saying that he is a future leader and has done an excellent job for Perth Scorchers. Shane Warne also said that Turner is a good player of both pace and spin bowling.

Just watching him play, a good friend of mine Mascheranas and me were speaking about the Big Bash and he asked me to take a good look at Turner. So, I studied him a bit and then rang the Royals owners and said that they should get Turner as the kid was good. So they went ahead and bought him and now the 50 grands spent on him looks pretty good,” Shane Warne told IANS.

Turner has a very level head on his shoulders for a young player. He is a future leader and has done a great job at Perth Scorchers. He plays spin just as good as he plays pace,” he added.

Rajasthan Royals will begin their campaign on March 25 against Kings XI Punjab. Although they have some quality players on their ranks, all eyes will be on Ashton Turner when they take the field.
