After a fine time, Colin Munro got the nod to play in the Indian Premier League 2019 edition. Though he has been available in the team, the management went with Colin Ingram for the initial matches. However, as Ingram left his home to see his baby, Munro got the chance to stamp his authority under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer.

He scored a decent 40-run knock with the help of three sixes and 4 boundaries. In between, Shreyas Iyer played a good hand, which helped them to past 150 runs on the board, which were too many for Sunrisers Hyderabad to chase down.

“Last year he got going, became captain sort of half-way through the IPL. He’s taken the opportunity with both hands now,” Munro said. “There is a very calm and collected way that he plays in, which you can see on the field…His captaincy is improving with every game. He is definitely a very good reader of the game at such an young age.”

Speaking of his own batting, the Kiwi batsman quoted that he would like to bat the way, which he did throughout his career. He doesn’t want to take any pressure and instead, go for his shots more often than not.

“I think it’s up to me, batting in so many different conditions in nets across India, it’s hard to know where your game is. So you have got to rely on your instincts and past performances. Today it was just the case of ‘see ball, hit ball’ and I was lucky to get a few in the middle,” Munro said after the win on Sunday.

Well, as Colin Munro said, Shreyas Iyer had led the team pretty well in the tournament so far. They managed to bag five wins in the tournament to sit at second place in the points table next to Chennai Super Kings. In the next assignment, they will take on Mumbai Indians back home.
