The former legendary cricketer of Indian National Cricket Team believes that the poor performance of Royal Challengers Bangalore is a blessing in disguise for Virat Kohli-led Indian Cricket Team. And also, Gavaskar is sure that Virat Kohli will not be affected by the RCB’s poor show.
So far, Royal Challengers Bangalore failed to win at least one game in the tournament. They locked horns with 6 different teams in the season and failed to see themselves ending up on the right side of things. In their next assignment, they will take on Kings XI Punjab.
It is altogether different excitement and energy – Sunil Gavaskar
If Royal Challengers Bangalore fails to make into the playoff stage then the skipper of India Virat Kohli will get a good rest ahead of the ICC World Cup 2019. Gavaskar feels that it would be the right time for Virat Kohli to have his time out and make a comeback with a fresh mindset.
Further, he went on to add saying that the ICC World Cup 2019 is a new tournament, which would entertain Virat Kohli to come good without any effect of Past Performances. He believes that Virat Kohli is a kind of person, who lives in the present and cares about the future.
“The hallmark of a great player is someone who can focus on the next delivery and Virat is one of them. I don’t think the RCB performance will affect him. When you are playing for India, it is altogether different excitement and energy. So I think the extra week of break he will get if his team does not make it to the playoffs, he will use to refresh himself for the World Cup,” Gavaskar told India Today.
No question on Virat Kohli’s fitness – Sunil Gavaskar
Further, Sunil Gavaskar also quoted that it won’t be a matter even if Royal Challengers Bangalore plays well in the remaining league matches to qualify for the playoff stage. He highlighted Virat Kohli’s fitness, who has always been the man to look up for.
“Yes, his franchise will want him to play all the games. So he will have a break if they don’t make it to playoffs. Even if his team has a great run and his team qualifies for the playoffs, no one can question his fitness standards. So he will be fine,” he further added.
Well, as Sunil Gavaskar said, the rest for Virat Kohli is a blessing in disguise for the Indian National Cricket Team. He would go down into the ICC World Cup as one of the strong contenders for the man of the tournament award.
Virat Kohli-led Indian team will head into the tournament as one of the favourites to win their trophy. They already finalised 13 members of the squad while a remaining couple of slots are still under the process for which, various players are fighting hard. They will be announcing squad on April 15th.
