Kolkata Knight Riders registered their 100th win of the IPL by 34 runs. Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bowl first in the 47th match of the ongoing season against Kolkata Knight Riders. However, Rohit Sharma won’t have imagined that his bowlers would be taken to cleaners on a belter of a pitch. The hosts got off to flying start as Chris Lynn and Shubman Gill catapulted their innings in the top gear.

Lynn and Gill added a fine opening partnership of 93 runs to lay a strong foundation for their side. Both the right-handers were able to big shots and complimented each other. Lynn timed the ball with perfection and scored a fine knock of 29-ball 54 with the help of eight fours and two sixes.

Russell and Pandya went berserk.

On the other hand, Shubman Gill once again proved why the opening position is apt for him as he brought his best to the table. Gill once again impressed with his timing and there was no stopping the young lad.

The right-hander scored a sublime knock of 76 runs off just 45 balls with the help of six fours and four sixes. Furthermore, Andre Russell’s grievances were finally heard by the team management as they promoted him to the number three position.

Russell once again proved why he can be deadly in the last few overs as he took Mumbai Indians bowlers to the cleaners. The pugnacious batsman had the balls under his belt and changed gears like a top model car. The right-hander smashed 40-ball 80 to help his side post a gargantuan score of 232 runs – which is the highest of the season.

Furthermore, Russell also completed 50 sixes in the ongoing edition. However, Mumbai Indians could not get to a good start as they lost three early wickets. Quinton de Kock top-edged Sunil Narine whereas Rohit Sharma was plumbed in front by Harry Gurney.

Moreover, Andre Russell also shined with the ball as he scalped two quick wickets. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya scored a blistering knock of 34-ball 91 with the help of six fours and nine sixes. Pandya was able to hit the ground running from the get-go and showed his intention as soon as he came to the crease. The hard-hitter gave a ray of hope to the Mumbai Indians but Kolkata Knight Riders always had enough in the bank.
