Standing at the number fourth position on the IPL 2020 points table, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) has the do or die match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday (November 1) to secure the berth in the playoffs of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.
Kings XI Punjab, who also had a disastrous start of the tournament like Chennai Super Kings, climbed up in the points table after winning back-to-back five matches out of the last six played. They will be desperate to grab two points by winning their last league match against CSK.
Here, let’s take a look at KXIP Predicted XI against CSK:
KL Rahul (c & wk):
Kings XI Punjab captain KL Rahul missed a half-century in the last match against RR. He was out after scoring 46 runs off 41 balls although the team set up a good target of 186 runs. However, they could not defend the total. The flamboyant batsman will have to set a good base for the team against CSK.
Mandeep Singh played a gritty knock against KKR to take the game home, but in the last match, he was out for a golden duck. As he is playing as the replacement of Mayank Agarwal, he needs to set the stage on fire for Kings XI Punjab to lock the space for them in playoffs.
Chris Gayle was frustrated and disappointed after he was out at just 99 runs after Jofra Archer bowled a beautiful yorker. He threw his bat in the air as he lost his temper. But the Universe Boss proved that age is just a number and the player needs to be strong mentally to dominate the field.
If the power-hitter again plays the merciless innings against CSK, KXIP will have the upper hand in the game.
After KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal, Nicholas Pooran has been the regular scorer for KXIP. If he had been longer in the field in the last match against RR, KXIP would have set 200 runs target. He scored 22 runs off 10 balls and struck three sixes. The Windies need to play rocket-fuelling innings against CSK.
Glenn Maxwell’s poor form is hurting Kings XI Punjab who are striving to enter the playoffs. Against Delhi Capitals, he got runs with the bat but was struggling. However, his spin bowling has been effective in controlling the run rate.
Deepak Hooda was out for a duck against SRH, but against DC, he took the team to victory. He is a huge responsibility to finish the job for Kings XI Punjab.
The fast-bowling allrounder Chris Jordan was outstanding against SRH. Adjudged Man of the Match for his performance, he snared three wickets while gave away only 17 runs in his four overs quota. His death over bowling was spectacular and helped the team to register the victory. He is surely going to play a crucial role for Kings XI Punjab against CSK.
The leg-spinner Murugan Ashwin is playing the key role for Kings XI Punjab, giving them crucial breakthroughs while proving to be economical. Overall, he has picked up 10 wickets in eight matches at the acceptable economy rate of 7.44
The leading wicket-taker for Kings XI Punjab, Mohammed Shami has executed perfect yorkers to notch wickets and has taken out the team from a tough situation. He has snared 20 wickets in 13 matches at the strike rate of 8.67.
As the tournament has moved forward, Ravi Bishnoi has improved drastically. He got the prized wickets of Eoin Morgan and Cummins against KKR. But against RR, he went wicketless although was economical than other bowlers. He is going to be the game-changer for Kings XI Punjab.
The young speedster was the star performer for Kings XI Punjab against SRH. In his last over which was also the last over of the game, he picked up back to back two wickets while also got one run-out and defended 13 runs. It was an unbelievable performance from Arshdeep Singh. He is the pivotal player for KXIP.
