Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will take on Chennai Super Kings on Thursday (October 29) at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai in the 49th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.
Although it is not an important match for CSK because they are already knocked out of the playoffs, Kolkata Knight Riders are still alive in the competition. So, it is an important match for KKR to win the match.
Here, let’s take a look at Kolkata Knight Riders predicted playing XI against CSK:
Shubman Gill had an excellent start of the tournament, scoring unbeaten 70 runs in his second match, but in the last couple of matches, the youngster lost his wicket in powerplays.
In the last match against KXIP, he tried to take the team to a good total, and in the process, he scored a half-century but soon after lost his wicket.
Kolkata Knight Riders will want him to set a good base for them against CSK because it’s an important match for them.
Nitish Rana opened the innings with Shubman Gill against Delhi Capitals, and it did wonders for them. He scored 81 off 53 balls, striking 13 fours and one maximum to guide the team to set above par 195 runs target. However, he could not deliver a similar performance against KXIP as they could set up only 150 runs target in Sharjah. He will have to play a fiery knock once again to help his team qualify for playoffs.
After playing a match-winning knock against CSK, Rahul Tripathi’s bat failed to give a good start to the team. In the last match, he came to bat at number three but was trapped by Shami after he scored 7 runs.
The right-hand batsman will want to make it count against CSK.
Dinesh Karthik (wk):
Former Kolkata Knight Riders captain Dinesh Karthik is clearly struggling to get going. Against Delhi Capitals, he faced six balls but scored only three runs before losing his wicket off Rabada’s bowl. He was out in similar fashion in the last match against KXIP.
He stepped down from captaincy to focus on his batting, but in the last couple of matches, his batting has gone from bad to worse. The wicketkeeper-batsman needs to deliver better performance to keep his side’s chances alive for qualifying for the tournament.
Eoin Morgan (C):
Eoin Morgan, who was captaincy burden midseason, could not do drastic changes in the playing XI but has played his part very well. He has played decent knocks under pressure, but the team’s all-round performance has not been upto the mark.
Sunil Narine went all gun-blazing against Delhi Capitals bowlers in his comeback match. He smacked Ravichandran Ashwin to change the momentum of the game towards Kolkata Knight Riders. The allrounder struck six fours and four sixes to score 64 off 32 balls. But he could not repeat the performance against KXIP when the team needed him the most. The allrounder will want to play his part well against CSK.
Against DC, Pat Cummins did the job for which he was bought in the auction. He guided Kolkata Knight Riders to victory not with the bat but with the ball. The speedster sent Ajinkya Rahane to hut on the first ball while also picked the prize wicket of in-form Shikhar Dhawan. He finished that match with the bowling figures of 4-0-17-3.
But against KXIP, he was ineffective. The pacer bowled expensive overs and even failed to pick a wicket.
Lockie Ferguson has featured in the last four matches and has snared six wickets at the economy rate of 5.16. His addition to the bowling line up has made Kolkata Knight Riders stronger. He will play a crucial role in this team against CSK.
Prasidh Krishna proved to be expensive in the last match, conceding 19 runs in his two overs. Overall, in six matches in the IPL 2020, he has picked up four wickets. He will look to bounce back stronger against KXIP.
Shivam Mavi is also a good option for Kolkata Knight Riders.
Kamlesh Nagarkoti was exceptional at the start of the tournament. But in the last few matches, he went wicketless while he was also expensive. The youngster will look to give a breakthrough to Kolkata Knight Riders against CSK.
Varun Chakravarthy is the most valuable player for Kolkata Knight Riders. He showed what wonders he can do against DC. The mystery spinner ruined DC’s middle-order, picking five wickets while giving only 20 runs in four overs. He is the game-changer and difference-maker for the franchise.
