Rajasthan Royals (RR) will clash with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Monday (October 19) at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. So far, the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 has witnessed some amazing performances and we might expect a few in the impending contest. This is the second meeting of RR and CSK while the former registered victory during their first match.
Rajasthan Royals had done some changes in their playing XI against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) which had, especially, worked for them in improving batting performance. However, the results could not end in their favour.
Well, they had promoted Robin Uthappa as the opener while their captain Steve Smith was sent down the order. As a result, they were successful in putting the above-par total. Royals will look to enter with the same batting order while work to improve their bowling performance to combat CSK.
RR Predicted XI against CSK:
1. Robin Uthappa:
Robin Uthappa had set a good base for Rajasthan Royals in their last match against RCB. He scored 41 runs off 22 balls, striking seven fours and one six, before losing his wicket. The right-hand batsman had suffered while batting in the middle-order. Promoting him as the opener has worked for RR, so he is likely to bat in the same position against CSK.
2. Ben Stokes:
Ben Stokes will play the fourth match for Rajasthan Royals against CSK. He has been given the role of opening batsman this season. In the last three matches, he has scored 61 runs at an economy rate of 101.66. He, however, has not given the expected performance. The franchise will expect him to give a good start to the team which they lack in.
3. Sanju Samson:
Nothing has changed for Sanju Samson. After being the man of the match in Rajasthan Royals first two matches, he has struggled to put good scores on the board. In the last seven matches, he has scored only 77 runs. The franchise will expect him to give a batting performance like the one in the first two matches in Sharjah.
4. Steve Smith (c):
After struggling to touch even 10 runs mark in the last six matches except against Delhi Capitals in Sharjah, Steve Smith finally scored a half-century against RCB in the last match. Although it could not help in winning cause, Rajasthan Royals captain would have gained a lot of confidence from that knock. It was also a good positive for the team that their captain bounced back stronger. He will have to give a similar performance against CSK to guide his team to victory.
5. Jos Buttler:
After playing as the opener in the first eight matches, Jos Buttler was demoted in the middle-order in the last match against RCB. He has been given the role of a finisher for the team. Rajasthan Royals will want him to be attacking at death overs to put a good score on the board.
6. Rahul Tewatia:
Rahul Tewatia has impressed with his all-round performance. He is the only biggest positive for the team in the last nine matches. The allrounder is hard-hitting batsman while has got the knack of picking wickets and also an excellent fielder. He is a vital cog for Rajasthan Royals this season. So, his position in the playing XI is unquestionable.
Riyan Parag proved his mettle with the bat against SRH by stitching up a match-winning partnership with Rahul Tewatia. The youngster played a sensible knock and took the team across the line to seal the win for Rajasthan Royals. He can be the star performer against CSK.
8. Jofra Archer:
Jofra Archer is playing the allrounder for the team. He has got the runs for the team with his power-hitting while he is the master with the ball. The pacer is the leading wicket-taker for them, picking 12 wickets in nine matches at the economy rate of 6.95. With the bat, he has scored 91 runs at the staggering strike rate of 193.61.
9. Shreyas Gopal:
Although he is an allrounder, he has not much opportunity to bat while he has been an effective leg-spinner. He has picked up six wickets in nine matches at an economy rate of 8.73. He will retain his place in the playing XI.
10. Kartik Tyagi:
The 19-year-old pacer has impressed with his performance. He has snared one wicket each in the last five matches, including the prize wicket of Virat Kohli. The fast bowler is having a good season, and the Rajasthan Royals will expect him to continue giving them breakthroughs.
11. Jaydev Undakat:
Javdev Unadkat is probably the weak link of the Rajasthan Royals. He is the expensive bowler, but the franchise has not many options to replace him in the playing XI. In seven matches, he has picked up four wickets at the poor economy rate of 9.91.
