IPL 2020: Kolkata Knight Riders vs Chennai Super Kings – KKR Predicted XI
Oct 6, 2020 at 3:37 PM
Coming off from a defeat, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are set to play their fifth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 against Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday (October 7) in Abu Dhabi.
Kolkata Knight Riders have lost that two matches out of four because of their poor strategies. They have not yet sorted out their batting line up. In the last match against Delhi Capitals, Rahul Tripathi – the opener- was sent down the order while Sunil Narine, which has been out of form, was sent as the opening partner of Shuman Gill. This wrong calculation had cost KKR their second defeat of the IPL 2020.
If they make similar mistakes against Chennai Super Kings in their next match, Dinesh Karthik-led side is surely going to pay for it.
On that note, here we have discussed Kolkata Knight Riders predicted playing XI against CSK.
Shubman Gill:
Shubman Gill, the youngster, had a significant contribution in the KKR’s last two victories. Against SRH, he remained unbeaten and scored 70 runs to seal the first victory for KKR in the tournament. Against RR, he gave a decent start to the team, scoring 47 off 34 balls. If Shubman gives such performance consistently, the franchise is surely going to be in a good position.
2. Rahul Tripathi:
Rahul Tripathi got the place in the playing XI in the last match against Delhi Capitals. Although he is an opener, he came to bat at no. 8 position when the asking rate was over 20. He, however, build a partnership with Eoin Morgan and took the game close for KKR albeit they lost the match by 18 runs. The right-hand batsman scored 36 off 16 balls, striking three fours and three sixes. If he had been sent with Shubman Gill as an opening partner, maybe the results have been different. So, for against CSK, KKR will not make that mistake and he will play for them as an opener.
3. Nitish Rana:
Nitish Rana, coming to bat at no.3, has stayed short in the field in the last three matches but has accelerated the innings with his powerful shots. He has scored 130 runs in four matches at the strike rate of 150.00. Coming to bat at no.3, Kolkata Knight Riders will want him to play big knock and give stability to the team.
4. Dinesh Karthik:
Kolkata Knight Riders captain Dinesh Karthik will play a pivotal role in building innings for the team. But in the last four matches, he has floated himself between Andre Rusell and Eoin Morgan which has not reaped any result. He has scored only 37 runs in four matches. The skipper needs to perform against CSK otherwise KKR might be in huge problem.
5. Eoin Morgan:
England captain Eoin Morgan adds the depth in Kolkata Knight Riders batting order. Against Delhi Capitals, when there was seen no hope for KKR’s win, Morgan stepped in to put pressure on the opposition. He showered sixes and fours in Sharjah but unfortunately, he could guide the team across the line. He has scored 136 runs in four matches. To beat CSK, the franchise needs to promote him up in the order.
6. Andre Russell:
Andre Russell, is unarguably, the match-winner for the team but he has not been able to produce desired results in previous matches. The power-hitting for which he is known has not worked for the team so far. To win against CSK, the allrounder needs to make it count for Kolkata Knight Riders both with the bat and ball.
7. Kamlesh Nagarkoti:
Kamlesh Nagarkoti is reaping results of retaining him for the last two seasons although he didn’t play matches because of injury. The young pacer has picked the wickets of Robin Uthappa, Prithvi Shaw and Riyan Parag in the last matches. The 19-year-old will be expected to produce similar results against CSK.
8. Pat Cummins:
Pat Cummins has not given the performance par to the hefty price tag he was bought by KKR. He has picked only two wickets, including of Steve Smith, in four matches. But it has not been the world-class bowling effort from Cummins. To beat CSK’s experienced and talented players, Cummins will have to bounce back stronger.
9. Shivam Mavi:
Shivam Mavi has hogged the eyes because of his pace and has given exceptionally well performance in death overs. The youngster has picked four wickets in four matches at an amazing economy rate of 8.23. He will again spearhead the pace attack for the franchise and will look to make the most of his abilities.
Varun Chakravarthy:
Varun Chakravarthy, the mystery spinner, has given magical performance in the last three matches, picking up crucial wickets to keep chances of KKR alive. Chakravarthy will look to weave his magic against the CSK and derail their batting line-up.
Kuldeep Yadav:
Kuldeep Yadav has been low in confidence which has been visible in the first three matches. The spinner was also dropped in the last match against DC. Kolkata Knight Riders, however, will back him although he is not bowling all four overs. He will look to come back stronger against CSK.
