In the 46th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) will face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Monday (October 26) at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah.
Kings XI Punjab registered an unbelievable victory in their last match against SunRisers Hyderabad. After setting a below-par target of 127 runs, KXIP ran through SRH’s middle-order and won the match by 12 runs. Their team effort has been exceptional in the last four matches and KKR would be wary of their prowess.
Here, let’s take a look at Kings XI Punjab’s predicted playing XI against KKR
KL Rahul (c & wk):
Although he would have been happy with his team’s victory in the last game, KL Rahul didn’t have a good day with the bat. He clearly struggled against spinners and was out after scoring 27 runs off 27 balls. As the result, Kings XI Punjab could only score 126 runs. As the victory would have given him confidence, he will want to play a big knock against KKR.
Mayank Agarwal:
Mayank Agarwal missed action in the last match because he was injured during the match against Delhi Capitals. While the injury is not serious, he will join the team against KKR. He is currently the third-highest run-scorer of IPL 2020, scoring 398 runs in 10 matches at an average and strike rate of 39.80 and 155.46 respectively.
Chris Gayle:
Although he could not take the team to a good position with the bat, Chris Gayle has brought the luck back for Kings XI Punjab. In the last four matches he played, KXIP managed to register victories in all those matches and their chances to qualify for playoffs are still alive.
Nicholas Pooran:
In the last match, Nicholas Pooran tried his best to rescue the team but he didn’t get support from the other end. He remained unbeaten scoring 32 off 28 balls. He is going to play a key role against KKR to seal the deal for Kings XI Punjab.
Glenn Maxwell:
Glenn Maxwell‘s poor form is hurting Kings XI Punjab who are striving to enter the playoffs. Against Delhi Capitals, he got runs with the bat but was struggling. Maxwell will try to get runs against KKR.
Deepak Hooda:
Deepak Hooda was out for a duck against SRH but before that match, he took the team to victory. But he is a huge responsibility to finish the job for Kings XI Punjab.
Chris Jordan:
The fast-bowling allrounder Chris Jordan was outstanding against SRH. Adjudged Man of the Match for his performance, he snared three wickets while gave away only 17 runs in his four overs quota. His death over bowling was spectacular and helped the team to register the victory. He is surely going to play coming matches for Kings XI Punjab.
Murugan Ashwin:
The leg-spinner Murugan Ashwin scalped the prized wicket of Jonny Bairstow to bring back Kings XI Punjab back in the game. The franchise will expect him to give a breakthrough in a crunch situation in Sharjah.
Mohammed Shami:
The leading wicket-taker for Kings XI Punjab, Mohammed Shami has executed perfect yorkers to notch wickets and has taken out the team from a tough situation. Against SRH, he picked the wicket of power-hitter Abdul Samad.
Ravi Bishnoi:
As the tournament has moved forward, Ravi Bishnoi has improved drastically. He got the wicket of David Warner in the last game, who was proving to be the danger man, and that dismissal turned the tide for Kings XI Punjab. After SRH captain’s wicket, his side was back in the game. Moreover, in his four-over quota, he gave away only 13 runs to further choke the opposition batters.
The young spinner is going to be the game-changer for KXIP in the next matches.
Arshdeep Singh:
The young speedster was another star performer for Kings XI Punjab. In his last over which was also the last over of the game, he picked up back to back two wickets while also got one run-out and defended 13 runs. It was an unbelievable performance from Arshdeep Singh. He is the pivotal player for KXIP.
