On Wednesday (October 28), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will take on Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 48th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Royal Challengers Bangalore had registered victory against MI in their first meeting. It was a high-quality game as a result was decided in super overs. Both the teams showed their class, but RCB dominated the ground. The game would have been ended in twenty overs if the Virat Kohli-led side had not misfielded.
Now, as they are meeting for the second time, RCB will not want to repeat the mistakes and register a comfortable win.
Here, let’s take a look at Royal Challengers Bangalore predicted playing XI against Mumbai Indians:
Devdutt Padikkal has taken off the burden from Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers to score runs, but he has struggled to get going after the powerplay. In the last match against CSK, he lost his wicket just after the powerplay ended although he scored 46 runs. But it has become a huge problem for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Royal Challengers Bangalore had bought Aaron Finch to release pressure from Virat and de Villiers’s shoulder to score runs, but he has been completely a dud so far in the tournament. After scoring a half-century in the first meeting with Mumbai Indians, he has struggled to give a good start to the side. His poor form in the UAE is hurting the team, but he will retain his place in the XI seeing RCB has not a good backup option.
Virat Kohli is surely extremely delighted with the team’s performance this season. Earlier, he had struggled to find his form, but after the match against Rajasthan Royals, runs have not stopped pouring from his bat. He will look to again register a win against MI after losing the last match against CSK.
AB de Villiers:
AB de Villiers has earned a new nickname ‘Super Human’ this season after his powerful knocks in the last couple of matches. Against RR, when RCB needed 35 runs off two overs, the proteas went berserk in Jaydev Unadkat’s over. He hit consecutive sixes while also beaten Jofra Archer to guide RCB to an unbelievable win.
But in the last match, after hitting some excellent shots, he lost his wicket early as RCB could only manage to score 145 runs. The Proteas will bounce stronger against MI.
Gurkeerat Mann Singh:
Gurkeerat Singh has got the opportunity to bat alongside AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli and scored 19* and 21* runs respectively to guide the team to victory. To stitch partnerships with two big players, it was good exposure for him. He will look to capitalise if he again gets the opportunity to bat against MI.
Against CSK, Washington Sundar went wicketless while conceded 27 runs in his four overs quota. Although he was economical, the team needed him to give breakthroughs.
The spinner is pivotal for them in powerplays and will have to pick early wickets against MI to set the momentum for them.
The tall fast-bowling allrounder Shivam Dube has not got enough opportunity in the last matches, but he will have to be ready to deliver whenever the captain asks him to. He is the power-hitter and has also got the knack of picking wickets.
Chris Morris has added balance to the team in the bowling department. He has given breakthroughs to the side while also is a good death over bowling option for them.
But against CSK, he had not produced the desired results while also was expensive. He is the lynchpin for them, and if could not get wickets, the results get affected.
Isuru Udana has also got the knack for picking crucial wickets in crunch situations. He has snared seven wickets in eight matches, but he was dropped in the last two matches. As Navdeep Saini is injured and is likely to miss the match against MI, he is likely to get a place in the playing XI.
Yuzvendra Chahal is the go-to-man for Virat Kohli whenever the team needs a wicket. The spinner’s lethal weapon googly has delivered wickets to him. In the last match, he gave a breakthrough after picking the wicket of Ambati Rayudu. However, it could not end up in the winning cause.
After showing a masterpiece against KKR, Mohammed Siraj went wicketless while proved to be expensive against CSK. However, one bad day could not define his skills. He will look to bounce back stronger against MI. His role will be crucial because Saini is likely to miss the action.
