IPL 2020: Qualifier 1 – Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals – MI Predicted XI
Nov 4, 2020 at 12:23 PM
Losing their last trivial league stage match, Mumbai Indians will face the strong-willed Delhi Capitals in the first qualifier of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. Dubai International Cricket Stadium will host this crucial encounter.
Although they entered the qualifying round with ease, their last defeat against SRH was embarrassing. Rohit Sharma returned in that match after missing four matches because of a hamstring injury. With two important wicket-takers Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult being rested, he could not guide Mumbai Indians to victory, losing the match by 10 wickets. As it was not an important match, the loss would not affect them.
Here, let’s take a look at Mumbai Indians predicted playing XI for the important fixture:
1. Rohit Sharma:
Rohit Sharma, in his comeback match against SRH, scored only nine runs. With being out in the last match, that match might have boosted his confidence, but Mumbai Indians skipper could not play a big knock.
Albeit, he will be in the playing XI set up for the first qualifier.
2. Quinton de Kock:
Quinton de Kock has lost his wickets in the last four matches, scoring 6, 18, 26 and 25 runs respectively. With Rohit Sharma returning from injury, the wicketkeeper-batsman needs to play a mature knock to take the game home.
3. Suryakumar Yadav:
Batting at number three position, Suryakumar Yadav has played mature innings to finish off the game for his team. Against RCB, he stood until the last ball of the game to seal the deal for MI, scoring 79* off 43 balls, striking three four and one six. So, until he is in the crease, Mumbai Indians can win the game from any point.
4.Ishan Kishan:
After being the match-winner for them as an opener, Ishan Kishan could not play a rocket-fueling knock against SRH while batting in the middle-order. He scored 33 runs off 30 balls before losing his wicket to Sandeep Sharma. Batting at number three, the youngster can’t give his wicket early in the qualifier.
5. Hardik Pandya:
Hardik Pandya has perfectly played the role of the finisher. His perfect game came against Rajasthan Royals after Mumbai Indians lost five wickets. He smacked 60 runs off 21 balls, striking seven sixes and two fours.
After being rested in the last match, he will be fresh to get another victory for the team.
6. Kieron Pollard:
Kieron Pollard is one of the biggest pillars of Mumbai Indians. Although coming to bat at lower-order, he has not got many balls to face but has maintained the strike rate of above 190. In 14 matches, he has scored 259 runs at an average of 86.33.
7. Krunal Pandya:
The spin bowling allrounder Krunal Pandya has contributed significantly with both bat and ball in all the matches. He is an integral part of the team and will be expected to guide Mumbai Indians to victories.
8. Rahul Chahar:
Rahul Chahar is the only in and out spinner that is playing for Mumbai Indians this season. He has given valuable contribution picking wickets of Virat Kohli, Ambati Rayudu and another crucial batsman to give a breakthrough to the team. Overall, he has picked up 15 wickets in 14 matches.
9. Trent Boult:
Playing maiden season for Mumbai Indians, Trent Boult has become a crucial part of the team. With the new ball, he has produced magical spells to give a good start to the team.
After he could not contribute to MI’s win against KXIP in the super over, he demolished CSK’s top-order to restrict them to 114 runs. In the last match, he leaked 40 runs in his four-over while picked the wicket of Chris Morris. But he bounced back stronger against DC, picking three wickets and conceded 21 runs in his four overs.
10. James Pattinson:
James Pattinson is the replacement of Lasith Malinga in the Mumbai Indians squad. Having a huge responsibility to fill up the space of Malinga, Pattinson has performed exceptionally in nine matches.
Against RCB, he was expensive and therefore, also not bowled his full four overs quota. He conceded 35 runs in three overs and went wicketless. Likewise, in the last match against SRH, he gave way 29 runs in his three overs without picking a wicket.
11. Jasprit Bumrah:
The world-class bowler Jasprit Bumrah is the trump card for any captain. In the last match against RCB, he turned the table for Mumbai Indians, picking two back to back wickets of Krunal Pandya and Devdutt Padikkal. Likewise against Delhi Capitals, he picked three wickets and gave away only 17 runs. As usual, he will play a pivotal role in taking them to victory.
