BCCI President Sourav Ganguly recently stated that it could be possible for them to allow 30 per cent people in the stands, maintaining social distancing in the stands. They will be properly tested and only then allowed to enter the ground.

“Because of the COVID and infection, you don’t want people to be too close to each other, but very soon you will see there will be 30 per cent people in the ground with social distancing,” Sourav Ganguly said.

“They are properly tested and allowed to enter the ground. But I think that is going to happen over a period of time. We could have easily avoided the IPL…but then, that’s what we humans are and that’s why we have survived all the difficult times,” he added.

Earlier last week, the Chennai Super Kings squad had to go through an extra quarantine after 13 squad members including two players tested positive for COVID-19 on last Saturday. The two players that tested positive were Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad.

One member of the broadcasting team was also found positive before their departure from India which postponed the whole team’s travel dates further.
