Coming off from defeat against Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders are set to face SunRisers Hyderabad on Sunday (October 18) in Abu Dhabi in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020
On Friday, KKR amazed everyone as Dinesh Karthik handed over the captaincy to Eoin Morgan of the further tournament. Cricket experts are of the view that the mid-season transition of captaincy will not be easy for KKR and might become a hurdle for them to qualify for playoffs.
Currently, KKR in the top four in the points table with winning four matches out of eight. Although they are not in a very bad position, KKR will have to win further matches to maintain their spots.
Kolkata Knight Riders predicted XI against SunRisers Hyderabad:
1. Shubman Gill:
Shubman Gill has amassed 275 runs in eight matches at a strike rate of 119.42. But he has mostly lost his wicket in powerplays. Virender Sehwag has advised the youngster to be more attacking in the first six overs to set a good base for Kolkata Knight Riders.
2. Rahul Tripathi:
Rahul Tripathi starred in the win for Kolkata Knight Riders against CSK. He batted until the 17th over to put pressure on Chennai Super Kings while the other end kept losing wickets. He amassed 77 runs to take the team to a respectable total. Also, against Delhi Capitals, he was sent down the order, but then also, he showed his mettle with the bat. If he gives a similar performance through the tournament, KKR will remain in a good position.
3. Nitish Rana:
Nitish Rana comes to the field like a storm but doesn’t stay longer. Being at no.3, the left-hand batsman needs to set up a solid partnership to leave Kolkata Knight Riders in a good position. He has amassed only 155 runs in eight matches at the strike rate of 132.47. The franchise might expect him to set himself in the field and play a big knock for them.
4. Eoin Morgan (C):
Eoin Morgan has now a crucial role to play for Kolkata Knight Riders as he has been appointed captain in mid-season. He has a huge responsibility to take KKR as a unit forward and amend their mistakes.

The power hitter of the Kolkata Knight Riders, Andre Russell, has not got a good start to the tournament. Last year, he was the match-winner for the team, but in this season, eight matches have gone, he has not got things right on track with his bat. Russell has only scored 83 runs in eight matches at the strike rate of 140.67 and picked up six wickets. He needs to step up and give substantial contributions to resolve death over batting for KKR.
7. Dinesh Karthik (c & wk):
Dinesh Karthik has stepped down from the captaincy to focus on his batting. Kolkata Knight Riders will expect him to get good runs from the bat although he has scored 112 runs in eight matches at the strike rate of 128.73.

Pat Cummins has not performed par to his class. He has only picked up two wickets in six matches while also being expensive. The fast bowler needs to justify the price tag he was bought in the IPL 2020 auction although he has given outstanding performance with his bat.
9. Kamlesh Nagarkoti:
The youngster taking in the responsibility is the best outcome for KKR in the previous matches. After missing the first match, he snared four wickets in six matches. He is justifying that it was right to retain him in the last two seasons even though he was out because of injury.

11. Varun Chakravarthy:
Varun Chakravarthy is the trump card of the Captain Morgan. The mystery spinner is not easy to read, and batsmen have struggled to face him. Varun bowls tight spells in middle-overs while also gives much-needed breakthroughs to Kolkata Knight Riders.
