In the IPL 2020 auction, IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders spent most amount from the purse for getting the service of the Australian bowler Pat Cummins. Cummins also went on to become the most expensive buy in the auction. KKR splashed INR 15.50 Crore on the pacer.

Cummins’s entry in Kolkata has given confidence to KKR’s fans for their chances of winning the IPL trophy. Apart from the Australian pacer, KKR has roped in England Eoin Morgan and explosive batsman Tom Banton. Rahul Tripathi and Varun Chakravarthy are the other two domestic players bought by the franchise. KKR have now 23 members in their squad and looks powerful and capable of winning the tournament.

New Zealand and Mumbai Indians (MI) pacer Mitchell McClenaghan tweeted about the Mumbai Indians’ buys and stated that all franchises have strengthened their team ahead of the IPL next edition. The Kolkata fan replied to pacer’s tweet saying KKR is the strongest than anyone else. To this, McClenaghan gave a savage reply.

“Excited by the additions we have made at @mipaltan but damn! How strong does everyone look this year unreal,” tweeted McClenaghan.

“Might be the strongest @IPL of all time,” he wrote further.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians entered the auction with the lowest purse money. They bought six players (4 domestic, 2 overseas) from the auction pool. Their appreciable purchase was of the hard-hitting batsman Chris Lynn, bought for INR 2 crore. The most expensive buy for Mumbai Indians was Australian pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile who earned 8 Crore in the auction.

Rohit Sharma led franchise spent 1 crore to buy four domestic players Saurabh Tiwary, Mohsin Khan, Digvijay Deshmukh, and Prince Balwant Rai. In total, the Mumbai Indians have now 24 players in the squad. They will enter the next edition of the IPL to win the fifth title.
