IPL 7: Anderson’s 95 runs helps MI beat RR beat by wickets; qualify for final

Chasing a mammoth target of 190 runs, Mumbai Indians chased down the target in  against Rajasthan Royals (RR) thus losing by runs at Wankhede Staduim, Mumbai, on Super Sunday.

For MI, Corey Anderson top scored with a brilliant 95 run-innings, while Ambati Rayudu chipped in with equally brilliant  runs off just 10 deliveries. 

For RR, Dhawal Kulkarni and Kevon Copper took two wickets each.

Having lost the toss and invited to bat first, Rajasthan Royals (RR) posted a mammoth score of 190 runs in their 20 allotted overs against Mumbai Idians (MI), at Wankhede Staduim, Mumbai.

For RR, Sanju Samson top scored with a brilliant 74 runs, while Karun Nair smashed an equally important half-century. James Faulkner and Brad Hodge also hit some lusty blow with a quick-fire 23 run and 29 run innings.

For MI, Jasprit Bumrah, Harbhajan Singh, and Shreyas Gopal took wicket a piece, as Mumbai Indians’ bowlers were smashed all over the park.
Earlier, Mumbai Indians captain won the toss and chosen to bowl first, which means they will need to chase whatever the target Rajasthan Royals set in 14.3 overs (this doesn’t change whether their target is 121 or 201) in order to jump ahead of Rajasthan Royals to gain fourth place and qualify for the play-offs. Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, will go through if they win or if Mumbai take more than 14.3 overs to chase the target set for them.

On to the team news now where Mumbai Indians made one change to their team, as they brought in Corey Anderson for Marchant de LangeRajasthan Royals, on the other hand, made as many as three changes, as Abhishek Nayar, Dhawal Kulkarni and Ankit Sharma made their way in to the XI in place of Stuart BinnyVikramjeet Malik and Rahul Tewatia respectively.

At present, Rajasthan Royals are in fourth place with 14 points and a net run rate of +0.247, while Mumbai Indians are fifth with 12 points and a net run rate of -0.086.
Earlier in the season when these two teams met, Mumbai won easily by 25 runs in Ahmedabad.
