Having being invited to bat first, Rajasthan Royals managed to score a mammoth target of against Kolkata Knight Riders in their 20 allotted overs at Motera, Ahmedabad on Monday. This was the first game Ahmedabad hosted this season with Rajasthan’s traditional home ground Jaipur being ushered away to due dispute between BCCI and RCA.
For RR, Karun Nair top scored with 44 runs, while Sanju Samson, Shane Watson, and Ajinkya Rahane contributed 37, 31, and 30 runs respectively.
For KKR, Sunil Narine and Vinay Kumar picked up two wickets each, while Shakib Al-Hasan picked up one wicket. The sixth wicket was a run-out inflicted by Sunil Narine to dismiss Rahane.
Earlier at the toss, Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir invited Rajasthan Royals to bat first, in a hot evening in Ahmedabad with temperatures soaring above 40 C welcomed the players. Gambhir, at the toss, was surprised about the pitch which had a touch of green. In fact Gambhir was so surprised he said: “I’ve never seen so much grass here, to be honest.”
