Former Indian captain MS Dhoni last featured with the national team during the ICC World Cup 2019. Since then, he hasn’t played a competitive match. His long break from cricket has always pointed out towards his retirement. However, former Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Rajeev Shukla believes that the question of former skipper’s retirement should be left to be answered by Dhoni himself.
The wicketkeeper-batsman has made himself unavailable since the start of last year’s home season. However, the fans will expect him to see in the upcoming season of the IPL. But there is no clear answer for his future in international cricket.
Meanwhile, Shukla said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has the policy to allow the cricketers to decide when to call it a day.
“Dhoni is a great player and there is a lot more cricket left in him. But, he has to decide when he should take retirement,” Shukla told reporters.
“The BCCI has a policy in place that a cricketer has to take a call on when to take retirement,” he added.
The 38-year-old Dhoni has remained tight-lipped on his retirement for more than six months. During his sabbatical, he has been seen enjoying the vacations with his family and friends.
Lately, he was seen spending the holidays with the former cricketer and new CAC member RP Singh.

While the fans continue to wait for Dhoni, he is all set to kick off preparations for IPL 2020 with full-fledged training soon.
As per a report in The New Indian Express, Dhoni will be joining CSK’s training camp on March 1.
At CSK camp, Dhoni will be taking part in training sessions regularly to make himself ready for the rigorous schedule of upcoming IPL season.
