There comes the first statement from Ravi Shastri after being appointed as the head coach of the team again. The flamboyant all-rounder during his times has earned the trust of Kapil Dev and Co to get a couple of years extension with the team. Meanwhile, he took his time to thank the panel members for handing another opportunity.
After a series of speculations, the three-member Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) led by Kapil Dev, Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy ended their pursuit for the next Team India coach by reappointing Ravi Shastri as the head coach of the Indian cricket team on Friday.
Shastri’s performance with the Indian team as the head coach between 2017 and 2019 earned him his fourth stint with Indian Cricket Team. Before this, Ravi Shastri had served briefly as the Cricket Manager (2007 tour of Bangladesh), Team Director (2014-2016) and head coach (2017-2019) of the Indian Cricket Team.

Meanwhile, in a video shared by BCCI, Ravi Shastri thanked all the panel members for the new opportunity. He also expressed his desire to make it big for the Indian team. Ravi Shastri believes that the current team has got the legacy to go down as the best team.
”I would like to thank CAC, Shantha, Anshu, and Kapil for keeping the faith in me to continue for another 26 months. It is an honour and privilege to be part of the Indian team set up,” Ravi Shastri quoted in the video revealed by BCCI.
”The reason why I came up in this team because I had the belief in this team, I had the belief that they could leave a legacy very few teams have left behind for the years to come not just for the moment they are playing but for the times to come, a kind of legacy, the other teams would like to emulate”.

During his two-year stint so far, India reached the semi-finals of the World Cup earlier this year, won the Asia Cup and also their maiden Test series victory Down Under last year. India have won 13 out of 21 Tests, 43 out of 60 ODIs and 25 T20 Internationals out of 36 on his watch
Though there are no major ICC cups in his pocket to show, he did very well when it comes to bilateral series. Besides that, he also developed a great rapport between him and the players in the meantime.
