Indian captain Virat Kohli shared a picture of the T20 World Cup match against Australia when he and Dhoni took India over the line. It was speculated that Kohli is giving a hint that MS Dhoni will call it time anytime soon. However, MS Dhoni’s wife Sakshi Dhoni has squashed the rumours as she took to her Twitter account to clear the air. Furthermore, Indian selectors also played down MS Dhoni’s retirement rumours.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni had taken a two-month break from the game after the conclusion of the World Cup. Thus, Dhoni was not included for the tour of the West Indies and instead to choose to serve the Indian Army in Kashmir. In fact, Dhoni was expected to hang his boots after the World Cup but it wasn’t to be the case.
Dhoni is not calling it a day.
Furthermore, the former Indian skipper is also not included in the upcoming T20I series against South Africa. Dhoni was not available for selection and there is uncertainty on his future.
The talismanic batsman hasn’t revealed any of his future plans and the time will only tell what Dhoni has in mind. Meanwhile, Dhoni has been under the scanner for his recent performances as his power-hitting abilities are on the wane. The master’s strike rate has gone down considerably and there is no doubt that the retirement is on the cards.
On the other hand, MS Dhoni has been a huge servant for Indian cricket and he has achieved all but everything in the book. Dhoni has been instrumental in the success of the team and he was one of the best captains in Indian cricket history.
Sakshi Dhoni took to her Twitter handle to clear the confusion. The post read as, “Its called rumours!”.
