Women's T20 Challenge 2020: Jaipur Will Host For Second Successive Season 1

Sawai Mansingh Stadium (Jaipur) will again host the Women’s T20 Challenge in 2020 edition. Once again, this tournament will be played during the IPL Playoffs.

Women’s T20 Challenge is the IPL-style women’s T20 cricket, which has been organised by the BCCI to popularise women’s cricket. Apart from the India Women cricketers, many overseas women cricketers also participate in this tournament.

The first edition of Women’s T20 Challenge was introduced in 2018 where Trailblazers and Supernovas played a one-off T20 match at Wankhede Stadium (Mumbai) on 22nd May 2018. That match was played ahead of Qualifier 1 of IPL 2018 where Supernovas won by three wickets.

A total of three teams participated in the Women’s T20 Challenge 2019. Apart from Trailblazers and Supernovas, Velocity were introduced in that edition. Four matches were played in that tournament, including one final. Sawai Mansingh Stadium (Jaipur) hosted all those matches in that T20 Challenge between 6th and 11th May 2019, during IPL 2019 Playoffs. The defending champions Supernovas again won that tournament after beating Velocity in the final by four wickets.

Four teams will play in Women’s T20 Challenge 2020

 

A total of four teams will feature in the third edition of Women’s T20 Challenge (2020). Seven matches will be played in this forthcoming tournament, including six league stage matches and one final. All these matches will be played at Sawai Mansingh Stadium (Jaipur) during the IPL 2020 Playoffs.

IPL 2020 will begin on 29th March, and the league stage will continue till 17th May. The IPL 2020 Playoffs week will run between 18th May and 24th May, including the final on 24th May at Wankhede Stadium (Mumbai). So, the Women’s T20 Challenge 2020 will run between 18th May and 24th May.

The fourth team’s name of the Women’s T20 Challenge 2020 will be announced soon. The fixtures and team details, including overseas cricketers, will be revealed once the BCCI finalise.
