After frustrating Chris Gayle by dismissing him on 99, Jofra Archer heaped praises on the ‘Universe Boss’ batting prowess. He hailed the power-hitter on his social media.
The Kings XI Punjab batsman was just one run away from his maiden century of the ongoing season, but Archer bowled a beautiful yorker to give him the nightmare. As the bails went off, unseen footage of Gayle losing his temper was witnessed. He threw away his bat in anger, but Archer went to shake hands with the Jamaican.
Taking to Twitter, Jofra Archer posted a picture of him congratulating Chris Gayle and acknowledged that the Windies is still the boss.
“Still the boss @henrygayle,” Archer tweeted.
For his sweet gesture, fans praised the England pacer, who is the leading wicket-taker for Rajasthan Royals.
Chris Gayle becomes the first batsman to hit 1000 sixes in T20:
Although Chris Gayle could not score a century, he broke few records. Gayle had hit 8 sixes, and 6 fours in his 99 runs off 63 balls. He became the first batsman in T20 history to hit 1000 sixes, pulling a bigger gap between himself and second-placed Kieron Pollard, who has hit 690 maximums ahead of Brendon McCullum (485).
In just six matches this season, Gayle has amassed 222 runs, striking 23 sixes, at an average of 46 and a strike rate of 144.50.
With the help of Chri Gayle’s firing knock, KXIP posted a challenging 185 for four, but the total was still not big enough to halt RR. The Steve Smith-led side chased down the target with two overs still left.
KXIP will move to play the final league match against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday (November 1). It is a do or die match for them to secure a place in the playoffs.
