New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson added a third Test double ton in his name after playing a well-disciplined, determined and responsible 251 runs knock against West Indies during the first innings of the first Test match in Hamilton.
With a dogged mindset, Williamson tested the patience of the visitors as he batted until 142.5 overs before declaring the innings at 519 runs. He stitched up a partnership with Tom Lathan and Ross Taylor to craft his magnificent knock which comprised of 34 boundaries and two sixes. Moreover, this knock was also the highest individual score of Kane Williamson in Test cricket.
Impressed by the way Kane Williamson crafted his sumptuous knock, Ian Bishop wrote on Twitter that New Zealanders’ batting was otherworldly.
“The technical skill of Kane Williamson’s batting is otherworldly,” Ian Bishop wrote in his Twitter.

Wassim Zaffer and other former cricketers took Twitter to applaud Williamson’s innings.
Kane Williamson scored third Test double ton:
Notably, the Kiwi had also scored his last double ton (which was the second) in Hamilton against Pakistan while his maiden double century came in Wellington against Sri Lanka.
Apart from the captain’s impressive knock, Tom Lathan scored 86 runs while Kyle Jamieson played a firing cameo, scoring 51 runs off 64 balls, striking five fours and two sixes to take the team’s score past 500. Kane declared the West Indies innings at 519.
Meanwhile, before the Test series, New Zealand also played three T20I matches against West Indies where the host registered a comfortable victory while the last matches ended with no result.
Notably, Williamson and Trent Boult, who featured in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, didn’t feature in this series. This was done to keep them fresh for the Test series.
